Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) convened the second meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships, targeting Bangladesh, Central Asian countries, and other friendly nations. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of the scholarship initiative and strategizing future steps to enhance its implementation.
According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the session, chaired by Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs Division, and Planning Commission. The committee evaluated the project’s progression and made significant decisions, such as initiating an inbound and outbound semester exchange program and granting scholarships to eligible candidates from Central Asian and other partner countries.
Participants highlighted the importance of organizing educational expos and awareness campaigns in target countries to effectively disseminate information about scholarship opportunities in Pakistan and attract talented students. The discussion also addressed visa facilitation issues for international students, with a commitment to strengthening federal coordination to streamline the visa issuance process.
