Gwadar Set to Become Industrial and Trade Hub, Says PM Kakar

ISLAMABAD, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar inaugurated the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital and a seawater desalination plant in Gwadar on Monday, marking significant milestones in the city’s development. These projects are seen as pivotal steps in transforming Gwadar into a major hub for industries and trade connectivity.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Kakar expressed confidence that the desalination plant would substantially alleviate Gwadar’s water issues. He also acknowledged the valuable support of China in constructing the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital.

The Prime Minister highlighted the nearing operational phase of Gwadar International Airport and issued directives to integrate the northern zone of Gwadar with the national electricity grid to resolve power shortages in the region. He underscored the significant benefits brought by enhanced connectivity under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing the irreversible and progressive development trajectory set for Gwadar and Balochistan.

Prime Minister Kakar assured the protection of Chinese nationals in Pakistan, reiterating the commitment of federal and provincial governments, armed forces, and law enforcement agencies to their safety. He confidently stated that Gwadar, bolstered by the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship, is poised to become a central hub for industries and trade.

He further elaborated on the deep-rooted and multifaceted Pakistan-China relationship, using phrases like “all-weather friends” and “iron-clad friendship” to describe the bilateral ties.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, speaking at the event, emphasized the mutual commitment to timely completion of CPEC-related projects and the shared vision to elevate the Pakistan-China relationship through cooperative efforts.
