Government Committed to Protecting Farmers’ Interests and Stabilizing Fertilizer Prices: Rana Tanveer Hussain

Islamabad, Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting farmers’ interests and ensuring the stability of fertilizer prices. He emphasized that any increase in the price of fertilizers without a corresponding rise in gas prices is unjustified and should be addressed immediately.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Rana Tanveer Hussain denounced the unilateral price hike of 561 rupees per bag of Sarsabz Urea fertilizer by Fatima Fertilizer Limited. He urged the company to withdraw the price increase, stating that the ministry would determine prices as per relevant laws if the company could not provide a valid justification.

The Minister highlighted that efforts are underway to control the hoarding of fertilizers in collaboration with provincial authorities. A mechanism will be established to check the real-time stock of fertilizers across the country to ensure that farmers have consistent access to this critical agricultural input.

Rana Tanveer Hussain called upon fertilizer companies to facilitate farmers in enhancing crop productivity, emphasizing the importance of affordable fertilizers in supporting agricultural output. The statement underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring the agriculture sector remains resilient and sustainable.
