Finance Minister Engages with U.S. Treasury on Economic Cooperation


Washington, D.C: Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and U.S. Treasury Deputy Secretary Francis Brooke convened to discuss economic cooperation, focusing on investment opportunities and anti-money laundering measures.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting was held during the sidelines of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C. The Finance Minister shared insights into Pakistan’s macroeconomic stabilization efforts, its strategy for re-entering international capital markets, and plans for managing external debt. He also emphasized investment opportunities within Pakistan’s minerals and energy sectors and briefed the U.S. Treasury leadership on the progress in digital and virtual asset regulation.



The discussions centered on potential collaboration in energy, mineral development, and enhancing the anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) framework. The Finance Minister reiterated the strength of bilateral economic relations and highlighted the significance of continued U.S. support for Pakistan’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
