Finance Minister Engages with IFFCO to Discuss Investment Opportunities in Pakistan


Islamabad: In a significant move aimed at bolstering investment and economic cooperation, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, met with a delegation from the International Foodstuffs Company (IFFCO) at the Finance Division. The delegation was led by Mr. Abdelghani Abdullah, Global Group Director of IFFCO, and Mr. Arshaduddin Ahmed, CEO of IFFCO Pakistan. Also present were key representatives from IFFCO Pakistan and the UAE Embassy.



According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister acknowledged IFFCO’s enduring engagement with Pakistan, praising the company’s contributions to the local food and manufacturing sectors. He highlighted IFFCO’s role in supporting local employment and industry development. Mr. Abdelghani Abdullah provided insights into IFFCO Group’s global operations, emphasizing the company’s significant presence in approximately 50 countries and its involvement in various food-related sectors.



The conversation turned to IFFCO Pakistan’s operations since 2006, noting substantial investments totaling around US$100 million. The company’s expansion from a single oil and fats refinery to multiple manufacturing sites has underscored its commitment to the Pakistani market. The delegation expressed interest in further investments, citing the growth potential in Pakistan’s industrial and food sectors.



Senator Aurangzeb welcomed IFFCO’s investment plans, assuring the delegation of the Government’s support. He emphasized facilitating existing investors and fostering an environment conducive to new investments, industrial growth, and employment. The minister also acknowledged the UAE Embassy’s role in enhancing economic ties between Pakistan and the UAE.



Mr. Abdelghani Abdullah reiterated IFFCO’s commitment to Pakistan, expressing confidence in strengthening the company’s operations and investment footprint. The meeting underscored the strategic nature of Pakistan-UAE relations, highlighting the potential for deepening bilateral economic and investment cooperation.
