Islamabad: A high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and a delegation from the Population Council, led by its President Dr. Rana Hajjeh, focused on addressing the challenges stemming from the nation’s rapid population growth. The discussions centered on the integration of population dynamics into key sectors to facilitate socio-economic development.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Finance Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the pressing need for a long-term, evidence-based strategy to tackle the implications of population growth on national development goals. He underscored the importance of incorporating population considerations into planning for health, education, employment, urbanization, and the environment.
The Population Council’s delegation expressed its support for Pakistan’s initiatives in developing comprehensive, data-driven policies. The delegation emphasized the importance of aligning the country’s demographic transition with sustainable development objectives.
