Finance Minister Advocates for Enhanced Climate Financing and Debt Relief at IMF Meeting in Washington DC


Washington DC: Finance Minister Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the integration of social protection measures within the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) lending practices during a key meeting with the IMF Managing Director and finance leaders from the MENAP region. He advocated for increased climate resilience financing and continued support for debt relief and concessional financing to assist vulnerable nations.



According to Press Information Department, the Minister also welcomed new initiatives addressing emerging challenges such as climate-related risks, domestic public debt management, and complex debt restructuring within the IMF’s review of the Low-Income Countries Debt Sustainability Framework (LIC-DSF). The discussions aimed at reinforcing the economic stability and long-term debt sustainability of developing countries facing diverse financial challenges.
