Chicago: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, visited the headquarters of the Zakat Foundation of America in Chicago, accompanied by the Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago, Zaman Mehdi. The visit included a detailed briefing on the Foundation’s global humanitarian efforts, and discussions on potential collaborations in poverty alleviation and social welfare initiatives.

According to Press Information Department, the Minister was received by the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer Khalil Demir and other key members. The briefing highlighted the Foundation’s work in over 40 countries, which includes orphan care, disaster relief, education, clean water access, skills development, and mental health support. The Minister acknowledged the Foundation’s contributions and expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in the Turkish Cultural Festival.

Syed Imran Ahmad Shah outlined his Ministry’s efforts under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, focusing on poverty reduction, healthcare, education, and social welfare. The Minister emphasized the importance of improving access to quality services for vulnerable populations and reiterated the Government’s commitment to these goals. Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of poverty alleviation and human development in Pakistan.

The visit concluded with an invitation from the Minister to the Zakat Foundation’s leadership to visit Pakistan. The event was attended by notable members of the Pakistani community in Chicago.
