Hong Kong: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan visited the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce to foster stronger business connections and engage with the Pakistani diaspora. During his official visit, Khan met with the Chamber’s Chairman and leading business representatives to discuss enhancing trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Hong Kong.

According to Press Information Department, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, established in 1861, is the city’s oldest business chamber. The Minister exchanged views with its leadership on expanding direct engagement between the business communities of both regions. Discussions focused on opportunities for Pakistan to leverage Hong Kong’s expertise in the services sector, including finance, aviation, and digital technology. Both parties also noted the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative to enhance mutual cooperation and connectivity.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the importance of regular interactions between leading business representatives and the exchange of trade delegations to explore new commercial opportunities. The possibility of institutional collaboration between the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and Pakistan’s major trade bodies was also discussed.

During a subsequent dinner at the Pakistan Club, the Minister interacted with prominent Pakistani community members and business leaders. He praised the Pakistani diaspora for its contributions to both Pakistan and Hong Kong, highlighting Hong Kong’s opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs and professionals. Khan urged the community to continue promoting Pakistan’s economic potential and building partnerships through its business contacts in Hong Kong. He assured them of the Pakistani Government’s commitment to facilitating overseas Pakistanis and strengthening their role in fostering trade and investment between Pakistan and Hong Kong.
