Islamabad: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted the potential for enhanced digital collaboration between Pakistan and Japan during a virtual keynote address at the Pakistan Business Seminar in Tokyo. The event, organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), focused on exploring new opportunities in technology sectors.

According to Press Information Department, the seminar attracted senior government officials, business leaders, and technology executives from both countries. Notable attendees included Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Shuichi Akamatsu, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, and Ms. Akiko Okumura, Executive Vice President of JETRO. Minister Khawaja outlined Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda, emphasizing the country’s growing digital infrastructure and record ICT exports of $4.6 billion in FY2025-26. She underscored the potential for Pakistan to serve as a technology and innovation partner for Japan, citing the nation’s young workforce and expanding digital talent pool.

Minister Khawaja called for increased Japanese investment in Pakistan’s technology sector, highlighting opportunities for research and development centers, university-industry partnerships, and joint product development. She concluded by affirming the government’s commitment to supporting foreign investment through the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
