Federal Minister Amir Muqam Pledges to Improve Kashmir Council Affairs

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engr Amir Muqam has pledged to work towards improving the affairs of the Kashmir Council, emphasizing its role as a key policy guiding forum. His commitment came during a briefing on Kashmir Council affairs held at the Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Council.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Federal Secretary for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Jawad Rafique Malik and other senior officials briefed Amir Muqam about the current status of the Kashmir Council, its role, and its recent activities. They also discussed the coordination between the Council and the Election Commission of Azad Jammu Kashmir.

During the briefing, officials explained that the primary role of the Council is to coordinate with the AJK government and the Election Commission. They also highlighted that the Council currently serves in an advisory capacity. Engr Amir Muqam suggested that the advisory role of the Council should be clearly defined to ensure its actions are evaluated within its mandate.

The minister’s remarks reflect a focus on enhancing the effectiveness of the Kashmir Council and ensuring that it plays a more vibrant role in guiding policies. The meeting indicated that the federal minister and other officials are working to address issues related to the Council’s structure and function to make it a more effective advisory body.
