Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has announced an initiative to present the thought and philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to global audiences through art. This endeavor will see the display of artworks at international exhibitions, with an emphasis on introducing Iqbal’s message beyond Pakistan’s borders.

According to Press Information Department, the announcement was made during the inaugural ceremony of a painting and art exhibition titled “Saqi Nama,” held at the Lok Virsa Heritage Museum in Islamabad. Organized by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) in collaboration with Off-Grid Studios, the exhibition is a tribute to the esteemed philosopher and poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, featuring works by artists Geytee Ara, Lubna Jehangir, and Zara Haider Babry.

Minister Khichi expressed his admiration for the artworks, noting that they beautifully transform Iqbal’s poetry and message into artistic expressions. He emphasized the high standard of the artworks, comparing them to international pieces, and affirmed plans to preserve selected pieces for international exhibitions.

Executive Director Lok Virsa, Dr. Muhammad Waqas Saleem, highlighted the exhibition’s goal to convey Iqbal’s message to a broader audience. Renowned artist Geytee Ara discussed the creative journey and challenges of the project, encouraging youth engagement with Iqbal’s “Saqi Nama.” Artist Zarar recited verses from the same work, while Zamurrad Khan, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Sweet Home, highlighted the exhibition’s role in introducing Iqbal’s philosophy to younger generations.
