DPM Emphasizes Need for Vigilance in Ensuring Sugar Supply


ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed satisfaction with the current sugar stocks in the country, highlighting their adequacy to meet demands well into the next crushing season. He emphasized the importance of vigilance, effective coordination, and timely actions to maintain food security, market stability, and the availability of essential commodities at affordable rates.



According to Radio Pakistan, Dar made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of the Steering Committee on Sugar. The meeting, held in Islamabad, was attended by key figures including the Minister for National Food Security, the Minister for Information, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary National Food Security, Secretary Commerce, and other senior officials.



During the discussions, Dar stressed the importance of ongoing surveillance and collaboration among relevant sectors to prevent potential shortages and ensure market stability. The meeting participants reviewed the current stock levels and anticipated production, concluding that the available resources are sufficient to meet the country’s needs in the foreseeable future.
