Islamabad: Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed on Sunday to honor the sacrifices of martyrs and Ghazis while reinforcing the commitment to defend the nation against all threats. This day marks the anniversary of the 1965 conflict when Indian forces crossed the international border, an incursion that was met with strong resistance by the nation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers will be held after Fajr in mosques across the nation, focusing on the progress and prosperity of the country as well as the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Radio Pakistan will also feature special programs dedicated to the defenders of the country.
