PARIS: A conference titled “Cotton thread-A multi-millennial history of the culture of Cotton of Pakistan” was recently held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris. The event assembled diplomats, UNESCO officials, representatives of the French textile industry, and fashion designers to examine the extensive history of cotton cultivation in Pakistan and its evolution into a key component of the global fashion industry.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch addressed the attendees, emphasizing the significant role that textiles and apparel play in Pakistan’s manufacturing and export sectors. She highlighted the industry’s employment impact, extending from the spinning mills of Faisalabad to the export centers in Karachi and Lahore. Ambassador Baloch underscored that cotton transcends its agricultural and economic significance in Pakistan, being intricately connected to the nation’s cultural heritage through longstanding traditions of spinning, weaving, embroidery, and textile craftsmanship.
