Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has urged Rule of Law Index monitors to acknowledge advancements in court infrastructure at the grassroots level throughout Pakistan. Speaking at the National Conference titled “From Reform to Recognition: Building a Responsive District Judiciary,” he highlighted the significance of the contributions made by judicial officers in remote regions.

According to Radio Pakistan, Justice Afridi noted the allocation of 3.4 billion rupees over the past year for essential court facilities, including solarization, e-libraries, internet connectivity, women facilitation centers, and water facilities. He also announced plans to expand facilities for women and provide health insurance to all judicial officers nationwide.

Justice Afridi underscored the district judiciary’s critical role in fostering public confidence in the justice system, emphasizing that such confidence is earned through integrity and fairness, not inherited or proclaimed. Other speakers at the conference, including the Chief Justices of several high courts, discussed legislative reforms, infrastructure development, and digital transformation efforts within the judiciary.

The conference concluded with the presentation of Commendation for Judicial Excellence Awards to judges and judicial officers for their notable contributions to the judiciary.
