Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a Provincial Apex Committee meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Lahore to address the security situation in the province and explore strategies to tackle current challenges, including coordinated Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs).
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the meeting recognized the dedication and efforts of law enforcement agencies and security forces in maintaining peace across the country. A comprehensive security plan for the ICC Champions Trophy was presented, with a focus on enhancing security in three border areas to disrupt criminal activities and ensure the safety of foreigners, particularly Chinese nationals involved in CPEC and non-CPEC projects.
The committee also discussed regulating the registration of madaris, the use of loudspeakers, and the expulsion of illegal foreigners, who are considered a threat to provincial peace. Additionally, the meeting covered the capacity-building measures for the Punjab Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), along with plans to extend the Punjab Safe City project to all districts. The participants reaffirmed their dedication to continuing coordinated efforts for the safety and welfare of the public.
