ISLAMABAD: A delegation of 30 civil servants from the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) in Peshawar, taking part in the 47th Mid-Career Management Course, visited the Parliament House in Islamabad. Accompanied by three faculty members, the group was welcomed by officials from the Senate Secretariat.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the delegation was provided with a comprehensive briefing by Mughees Ahmad Sheikh, Joint Secretary of the Senate Secretariat. He elaborated on the constitutional role, powers, and administrative structure of the Senate, emphasizing its role in ensuring equal provincial representation and safeguarding the rights of smaller provinces. The delegation engaged actively in a question-and-answer session, receiving thorough responses from Mughees Ahmad Sheikh and Muhammad Azam, Deputy Secretary of the Senate Secretariat.

The visit also included a tour of the Senate Museum, where participants learned about Pakistan’s parliamentary history and the legislative process. A documentary on the Senate’s history was screened, and the delegation expressed particular interest in the exhibits, including statues and historical photographs. The group also visited the Gali-e-Dastoor exhibit to gain insights into the country’s constitutional history.

At the visit’s conclusion, a vote of thanks was extended on behalf of NIPA’s Director General, with gratitude expressed for the Senate Secretariat’s cooperation. A souvenir was presented to Joint Secretary Sheikh as a gesture of goodwill. Participants appreciated the Senate’s efforts in promoting democratic values and declared the visit both informative and beneficial.
