Phnom Penh: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, led a delegation of speakers and delegates at the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in a courtesy meeting with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Chairman Gilani expressed appreciation to the Cambodian Senate for hosting the conference and acknowledged Samdech Hun Sen’s role in fostering inter-parliamentary dialogue.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gilani emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, collective action, and adherence to international law in addressing global challenges such as armed conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, and climate change. He urged the ISC to serve as a platform for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, encouraging parliaments to actively shape the forum’s future to address challenges that transcend borders.

Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, Chairman Gilani discussed the country’s role in promoting peace in the Middle East and its cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye on regional security. He called for transitioning from commitment to action and institutionalizing parliamentary diplomacy to respond to emerging crises effectively.

Chairman Gilani also praised Cambodia’s journey from conflict to peace, noting it as a testament to the power of reconciliation and dialogue.
