BII Commits to Increasing Investments in Pakistan

Islamabad: The British International Investment (BII) has pledged to increase its investments in Pakistan and facilitate the mobilization of private capital to support sustainable growth. During a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, BII’s Managing Director, Srini Nagarajan, emphasized the organization’s strategic focus on Pakistan as a key investment destination.

According to Radio Pakistan, Nagarajan, who led a delegation, presented BII’s investment strategy for 2026-31, which outlines plans to invest at least two billion dollars across Asia and Africa, with a particular emphasis on South Asia and frontier markets. The strategy includes mobilizing private capital alongside BII’s investments and utilizing its expertise in infrastructure, climate finance, financial services, technology, and private markets to develop investable markets and attract additional capital.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for BII’s ongoing commitment to expanding its investments in Pakistan. He noted the country’s significant improvements in macroeconomic stability and investor confidence, as well as the government’s efforts towards structural reforms, privatization, and a shift to private-sector-led growth.

The BII delegation also highlighted its interest in climate-related investments, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects, including power transmission. It expressed readiness to leverage international experience and expertise to develop viable financing structures and investable opportunities in Pakistan.
