LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari appeared before the District Courts to record her statement in the ongoing fake video case. Bokhari, who is the complainant in the case, emphasized the damage done to her honour and dignity due to the circulation of a fake video on social media.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, Bokhari recounted the distress she faced upon discovering the video on various social media platforms in late July 2024. She stated that the fake video had caused her immense mental anguish, prompting her to file a petition at the Lahore High Court, which initiated further legal proceedings.

In her statement, Bokhari expressed security concerns due to the courtroom behavior of the accused, Falak Javed, and her associates. She requested the court to consider allowing her to provide future statements via video link. Bokhari also highlighted the broader implications of her experience, questioning the treatment of ordinary citizens if a minister could face such intimidation.

Bokhari’s legal counsel, Ali Bokhari, reinforced her right to challenge court orders within legal frameworks, urging focus on legal matters over political discourse during proceedings. The court addressed disruptions by conditionally allowing only relevant lawyers and excluding YouTubers from future hearings.

The court has scheduled September 12 for cross-examination on Bokhari’s statement, as the proceedings continue.
