Azad Kashmir Plans Major Observance of October 27 as Black Day to Highlight Indian Atrocities

Rawalpindi: Under the direction of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell (JKLC) has organized a series of events to mark October 27 as Black Day, aimed at highlighting Indian atrocities and presenting India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir to the global community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirza Wajahat Rashid Baig, Secretary of the JKLC, announced the plans during a meeting at the Kashmir Centre in Rawalpindi. He detailed that a significant protest rally and public meeting will take place in Muzaffarabad on the designated day. The events will see participation from political party leaders of Azad Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, ministers, students, women, journalists, lawyers, and representatives from various sectors, including political, social, religious, and commercial organizations along with civil society members.

A roundtable conference is scheduled for October 26 in collaboration with the National Press Club, Islamabad, featuring federal ministers, Hurriyat leaders, senior media personnel, and university students. Additionally, a signature campaign will be launched on Black Day, and protests and rallies are planned in cities such as Rawalakot, Lahore, Karachi, Mirpur, and others across Azad Kashmir.

Baig emphasized the solidarity of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan with the people of occupied Kashmir, expressing confidence in the Kashmiris’ eventual liberation from Indian rule. He condemned the ongoing repression and denial of self-determination rights in occupied Kashmir, especially in light of the controversial elections and the persistent state of fear and terror enforced by the Indian government.

The observance of Black Day on October 27 is a longstanding tradition for Kashmiris to protest the date in 1947 when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir, which Baig described as a blatant violation of the Kashmiri people’s aspirations.
