Peshawar: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, inaugurated the newly rehabilitated and renovated building of Radio Pakistan Peshawar. The building, a historical site, was restored after being severely damaged during protests, and now stands as a symbol of resilience and historical significance.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister addressed a ceremony where he highlighted the destruction caused by protestors who had set fire to the historic Broadcasting House. This location is notable for airing the announcement of independence in Urdu and Pashto. He emphasized the public’s awareness regarding those responsible for the damage not only to the Broadcasting House but also to the statue of Kargil War hero Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and Jinnah House in Lahore.

Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Saeed Ahmad Sheikh, noted that despite the unfortunate incident on May 10, 2023, transmission from PBC Peshawar was restored within twenty-six hours. The rehabilitation project, completed in a record time of five months and twenty-six days, cost an estimated one hundred million rupees.

During his visit, the minister toured various sections of the renovated building, including its museum, and expressed his appreciation for the quality of the work done.
