Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter honored the martyrdom anniversary of S Hameed Wani, a prominent leader in the Kashmiri freedom movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Wani was arrested and killed in custody by Indian police on April 18, 1998, in the Soura area of Srinagar. A memorial reference was held in Islamabad today, led by Convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, to remember his contributions and sacrifice.
Participants at the event praised Wani’s lifelong dedication to the Kashmiri freedom struggle, describing his sacrifices as invaluable to the movement. The assembly also addressed the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), condemning the actions of Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris.
The speakers called on the United Nations, its human rights agencies, and international bodies to recognize and act against the escalating human rights crisis in IIOJK, urging them to pressure India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the desires of the Kashmiri people.
