Muzaffarabad, In a recent address, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, articulated his concerns about India’s evolving global perception, attributing it to the extremist policies of Narendra Modi.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the remarks by the AJK President were part of his speech at a significant event commemorating the 76th foundation day of the Azad Jammu Kashmir government in Muzaffarabad. He criticized the BJP’s policies and went on to draw parallels between Modi and Gorbachev, suggesting a potential disintegration of India in the future.
Barrister Sultan Chaudhry took the opportunity to applaud the enduring resistance of Kashmiris against Indian occupation. Recalling the sacrifices made for the liberation of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Dogra rule, he mentioned, “Our ancestors, under the leadership of Ghazi Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, bravely endeavored to free the region from Dogra control.”
Reflecting on the inception of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry emphasized it wasn’t a mere spontaneous occurrence but a result of a prolonged struggle against the Maharaja. This endeavor led to the establishment of a revolutionary government under the guidance of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan on October 24, 1947. Chaudhry remarked, “This achievement was marked by the sacrifices of numerous individuals, making it a journey written in blood.”
Citing historical resistance against oppression, the AJK President commended individuals like Sabz Ali Khan and Milli Khan, who remained resolute in their stand against oppressors. He remarked, “Such individuals illuminated the path to freedom with their sacrifices.”
Reiterating the primary objective of AJK’s establishment, Chaudhry assured the people of IIOJK of unwavering support from both the government and the citizens of Azad Kashmir in their ongoing struggle. He also pledged commitment to amplifying the Kashmir issue on a global platform and expressed strong disapproval of India’s oppressive actions in IIOJK.
Lastly, the AJK president condemned Israel’s recent bombings in Gaza, targeting Palestinian civilians.
