Acting President Gilani Engages with Political and Business Leaders on Key Issues


Islamabad: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani convened a series of meetings at Aiwan-e-Sadr today with political figures and business community representatives to discuss matters of national, regional, and international significance, including security concerns and the impact of flash floods.



According to Press Information Department, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, alongside PPP Parliamentary Leader in the KP Assembly Ahmad Karim Kundi, briefed Mr. Gilani on issues related to peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Discussions included security challenges, the flood situation in several areas of the province, and ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts, as well as the broader political landscape in the country.



In a separate meeting, former Federal and Provincial Minister Syed Samsam Bukhari discussed constituency-related matters with Mr. Gilani. Additionally, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan addressed the political environment in AJ&K following recent elections and discussed development and welfare initiatives for the region’s populace. He highlighted significant development projects from Mr. Gilani’s tenure as Prime Minister, such as the establishment of medical colleges in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Mirpur, and the construction of the Bab-e-Yousuf bridge over the River Jhelum. The bridge has improved connectivity between AJ&K and Islamabad by reducing travel distance by 125 kilometers.



Mr. Gilani reiterated the Pakistan Peoples Party’s enduring commitment to the Kashmir cause. He also met with former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani to discuss regional and international affairs. Furthermore, Chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, Faisal Jahangir, informed Mr. Gilani about issues concerning rice exports in their meeting.
