Young Parliamentarians Forum Holds Workshop to Promote Evidence-Based Lawmaking


Islamabad: The Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the National Assembly has initiated a two-day workshop aimed at enhancing post-legislative scrutiny among Members of the National Assembly. Led by President Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, the workshop seeks to strengthen parliamentary oversight and promote evidence-based improvements to legislation.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the workshop, organized in collaboration with the Shaoor Foundation for Education & Awareness (SFEA), aims to equip parliamentarians with essential skills and tools to evaluate the implementation and impact of laws. The event underscores the commitment of the YPF to fortify parliamentary institutions and enhance legislative capacity, aligning with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s vision for robust parliamentary oversight.



Attendees of the workshop include several Members of the National Assembly and key figures such as Mr. Ali Hameed, Chairman of SFEA. Technical sessions conducted by Syed Shamoon Hashmi, Special Secretary (Special Initiatives), NA Secretariat, provided insights into legislative scrutiny and evaluating law effectiveness. Additionally, an interactive session on the Federal Budget 2026-27, facilitated by Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Ali of CPDI, focused on youth challenges and budgetary oversight.



President YPF Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar reiterated the significance of post-legislative scrutiny as a cornerstone of effective parliamentary oversight, emphasizing its role in ensuring laws are implemented effectively. The workshop is expected to yield recommendations that will bolster parliamentary committees and foster a more transparent and citizen-centric legislative process in Pakistan.
