Islamabad: The Senate was informed on Thursday that construction on the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway is scheduled to commence this year. Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced that three out of the five sections of the motorway have received approval, and the tendering process is currently underway.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister emphasized ongoing efforts to increase the revenue of the National Highway Authority to ensure the maintenance and improvement of road infrastructure. Additionally, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain provided a written response regarding the government’s initiatives to expand employment opportunities for Pakistanis abroad. He highlighted a memorandum of understanding with Italy, which grants an annual quota for approximately 3,500 workers over three years in various sectors, including agriculture, construction, and healthcare.

In response to opposition members’ concerns, Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sana Ullah Khan assured that the PTI founder and his spouse are receiving optimal medical care. He noted that certain meetings with the PTI founder breached established rules and jail manuals, alleging they were used for political purposes.

Meanwhile, the Upper House approved two legislative bills: the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council Bill, 2026, and the Special Economic Zones Amendment Bill, 2026. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Monday at 5 p.m.
