What led to 10% rise in crime in IIOJK in one year?

Srinagar, July 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Amid the shift of entire focus of the Modi-led occupation regime on brutalizing the pro-freedom people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the territory has witnessed nearly a 10% rise in different crimes in one year.

Despite presence of huge Indian troops, paramilitary, police and agencies men in every corner the increasing trend has been witnessed in the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) cases, which means that Indian military and police establishment-sponsored drug mafia continues to spoil the young generation of Kashmir valley.

As per the official figures, during the year 2021, a total of 31675 cases were registered under various heads of crime as against 28,936 cases during the corresponding year 2020 in the thereby showing an increasing trend—9.47% in the year 2021.

The crime rate for the year 2021 remained at 235.68 (as per the projected population of year 2021 by the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) as compared to year 2020 which was 216.90.

As per the figures, during the year 2021, property worth Rs 36 crore was stolen out of which property worth Rs 14.79 crore was recovered and the recovery percentage was 39.86.

As far as crimes against women are concerned, 3873 cases were registered in 2021 as against 3517 during the year 2020. During the year 2021, 1681 NDPS Act cases were registered as against 1222 cases in the year 2020, which shows an increased trend.
