WAPDA Chairman Meets National Champion Men’s Basketball Team

Lahore, The Chairman of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), met with the WAPDA Men’s Basketball team, congratulating them on their recent victory in the National Men’s Basketball Championship.

According to Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority, the meeting was attended by several high-ranking WAPDA officials, including the Member Finance, Member Power, General Manager Sports, General Manager (Hydel) Operation, and Advisor Sports. During the interaction, Chairman Ghani acknowledged the team’s exceptional performance in the championship and encouraged them to maintain their winning momentum through planned practice and training sessions for upcoming events.

WAPDA has a longstanding history of promoting sports in Pakistan, contributing significantly for over fifty years. The authority has implemented various initiatives to enhance the standard of sports and the welfare of athletes in the country, including the establishment of the ‘WAPDA Endowment Fund for Sports’. Currently, WAPDA boasts 65 sports teams, encompassing both men’s and women’s teams across different games. The organization holds the title of National Champion in 34 sports disciplines and is the runner-up in 22 others. Furthermore, WAPDA athletes have been instrumental in securing a majority of Pakistan’s medals in international sports events.

This meeting with the WAPDA Men’s Basketball Team is a testament to the authority’s commitment to nurturing and recognizing sporting talent within its ranks, reinforcing its role in the development of sports in Pakistan.
