New York: A joint delegation from the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) and the Business Council of International Understanding (BCIU) met with the Prime Minister today during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting focused on strengthening business ties and exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the U.S. corporate sector and Pakistan. He emphasized the investment potential in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, information technology, artificial intelligence, and mining. The Prime Minister noted the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment.
Key U.S. companies with business interests in Pakistan, including Boeing, Abbott, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Resecurity, Mastercard, Nvidia, ETS Capital, TRG International, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Northshore Medical Lab, Reckitt, Visa, and Excelerate Energy, were represented at the meeting. Ms. Esperanza Jelalian, President of USPBC, thanked the Prime Minister for engaging with U.S. enterprises and shared the US Chamber of Commerce’s plans to promote Pakistani investment opportunities.
Mr. Peter Tichansky, President of BCIU, discussed the interest of BCIU member companies in expanding their investments and exploring new partnerships. Both councils assured the Prime Minister of their continued collaboration with the Pakistani government and private sector to enhance cooperation. The Prime Minister recognized Pakistan as an attractive destination for U.S. businesses due to its market size and workforce.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by senior officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Minister for Finance & Revenue, Minister for Defence, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, Chairman of PVARA Bilal bin Saqib, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar, and Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh.
