Uproar in Lok Sabha as SP Leads Opposition Protest Over Waqf Bill

New Delhi: The four-day final segment of the Parliament Budget Session 2025 commenced on a contentious note today as Opposition MPs, spearheaded by the Samajwadi Party, prompted an adjournment in the Lok Sabha through vociferous protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.

Members of the Samajwadi Party, according to Kashmir Media Service, were seen holding placards and interrupting the session around noon. They labeled the proposed legislation as unfair and unconstitutional, causing significant disruption to the proceedings.

Despite Speaker Om Birla’s requests for decorum and his directive to refrain from shouting slogans, the members continued their protest, leading to the adjournment of the House until 2 p.m. The incident underscored the ongoing tensions in Parliament as the controversial bill remains a focal point of contention among lawmakers.
