UN SG greeted on appointment for second term

Srinagar, June 19, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, has congratulated the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on his appointment as the UN Secretary General for second term. The UN General Assembly on Friday appointed Antonio Guterres as the UN Secretary General for a second term beginning January 01, 2022, days after the powerful Security Council had unanimously recommended his name to the 193-member body for re-election.

Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the longest pending issues, which need immediate resolution are Kashmir and Palestine and hoped that he would take personal interest in resolving both the disputes as per the wishes of their natives and in accordance with the United Nations resolutions. The negotiations can never produce results till the intent is clear and in case of Kashmir Indian intransigence is the biggest hurdle though it claims to be the largest democracy of the world. “The unbridled powers given to Indian forces have made the lives of Kashmiris miserable and the future of our young generation is at stake as India has consistently targeted our youth,” he said.
