UN Security Council Adopts Pakistan-Drafted Annual Report by Consensus

New York: The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted an annual report to the UN General Assembly, which was drafted and introduced by Pakistan. The report highlights the Council’s work on a wide array of crises and thematic issues across the globe.

According to Radio Pakistan, the report was presented by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, who described it as a comprehensive overview of the Council’s engagement throughout 2025. It outlines the Council’s response to a range of contemporary threats to international peace and security, including both ongoing and emerging conflicts, humanitarian emergencies, and evolving risks.

The Ambassador noted that the Council maintained its central role in promoting stability, supporting peace processes, and reinforcing multilateral cooperation, despite the persistence of conflicts and heightened tensions that occasionally complicated efforts to advance political settlements and collective action.
