ISLAMABAD: The United Kingdom has commended Pakistan for its mediation efforts and significant contributions to global peace, as highlighted during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Jane Marriott acknowledged Pakistan’s effective management of the petroleum supply situation and praised its diplomatic efforts in maintaining balanced relations with both the United States and Iran. The British High Commissioner emphasized Pakistan’s constructive role in global peacekeeping.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability through negotiations and diplomatic engagement. He highlighted the country’s efforts in maintaining a steady petroleum supply with the cooperation of friendly nations such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates during uncertain times.
The minister also addressed domestic issues, mentioning the government’s provision of targeted subsidies to protect vulnerable groups. He noted that fertilizer prices in Pakistan remain substantially lower than those in neighboring countries. The discussions also covered potential avenues for cooperation in regulatory and institutional strengthening between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
