Islamabad: The U.S. Mission in Pakistan, through a webinar led by Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker, spotlighted opportunities for expanding U.S. involvement in Pakistan’s agricultural technology sector. The event, organized in collaboration with the Business Council for International Understanding, focused on how American innovations could aid in modernizing Pakistan’s agriculture while fostering commercial prospects for both nations.

According to Embassy of the United States of America, Chargé Baker emphasized agriculture’s vital role in Pakistan’s economy, attributing nearly a quarter of the nation’s GDP to the sector. She outlined the potential benefits of U.S. technologies, such as precision agriculture and advanced irrigation, in boosting productivity and conserving resources. The webinar also covered potential regulatory changes in Pakistan to facilitate increased imports of U.S. agricultural goods and promote U.S. investments in key areas like farm mechanization and biotechnology.

The session previewed the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Certified Agricultural Technologies Trade Mission to Pakistan, set for October 26-30, 2026. Baker encouraged American companies to explore Pakistan’s agricultural sectors, reinforcing the U.S. embassy’s commitment to supporting American businesses in the region. She acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the Government of Pakistan and participating American enterprises.
