Islamabad: A U.S. Congressional delegation, including Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartener, visited Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House to discuss strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker.

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the U.S. Congressmen and expressed his hope for the enhancement of bilateral ties. He congratulated the Congressmen and the American public on the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence and conveyed regards to President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister highlighted President Trump’s role in mediating the cessation of hostilities between Pakistan and India in May 2025.

The discussions covered various avenues for collaboration, with the Prime Minister expressing Pakistan’s interest in boosting cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, IT, and energy. The Congressmen acknowledged the hospitality extended to them and noted the positive impact of President Trump’s relationship with Pakistani leadership on bilateral ties. Both parties agreed to increase the frequency of visits by Congressional and parliamentary delegations.

Following the meeting, a reception was held for a delegation of U.S. corporate executives visiting Pakistan, representing sectors such as IT, energy, mining, and manufacturing. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of economic cooperation and invited U.S. companies to invest in mutually beneficial ventures in Pakistan. He also highlighted the role of the Pakistani American diaspora in bridging relations between the two nations. The event was attended by several key government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
