Islamabad: Pakistan is committed to strengthening its bilateral ties with the United States through parliamentary diplomacy and increased cooperation, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry stated. This comes after a high-level meeting at Parliament House between the Pakistan-US Parliamentary Friendship Group and a visiting US Congressional delegation.

According to Press Information Department, Barrister Danyal emphasized the importance of parliamentary linkages in promoting mutual understanding and opening new opportunities in trade, education, and other sectors. The meeting, led by Convener Syed Hussain Tariq, included US Congressmen Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, alongside various Pakistani parliamentarians.

Barrister Danyal highlighted the diplomatic efforts by US President Donald Trump in de-escalating recent tensions between Pakistan and India, noting the growing trust in bilateral relations. He also suggested reviving the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress to strengthen legislative ties.

The visit of the US delegation and their meetings with Pakistan’s military leadership were seen as indicators of improving relations. Barrister Danyal refuted a recent Pew Research Center survey, asserting that Pakistanis value their relationship with both China and the United States, and that the survey does not reflect ground realities.

Parliamentarians at the meeting supported Barrister Danyal’s views, stating that the survey findings do not represent public sentiment.
