Peshawar: A terrorist attack near Kohat Toll Plaza claimed the lives of two customs and excise personnel, as a Customs Enforcement Squad was ambushed by unidentified assailants while performing anti-smuggling duties. The attack, which occurred around 12:15 a.m., resulted in the deaths of Sepoy Jawad Ahmed of Pakistan Customs and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sajid ul Islam of the Excise Department. A third officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

According to Press Information Department, the assailants set the official enforcement vehicle on fire before escaping. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible. In a tribute to the deceased, Pakistan Customs expressed deep sorrow and highlighted the courage and dedication of the fallen officers, emphasizing their commitment to national service.

The funeral for Sepoy Jawad Ahmed will take place at Customs House, Peshawar, before his remains are taken to his hometown for burial with full state honors. Arrangements for ASI Sajid ul Islam’s funeral will be announced by the Excise Department. Pakistan Customs extended condolences to the families and reiterated its commitment to combating smuggling and organized crime, vowing to honor the sacrifices made by its personnel.
