Tension in Telangana village after Hindutva goons hoist saffron flag atop mosque

New Delhi, October 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Tension gripped Byathole village in Medak district of the Indian state of Telangana after Hindutva mob hoisted a saffron flag and carved some Hindu religious inscriptions at a Qutb Shahi era mosque during the Hindu festival Dussehra.

Locals told the media that the goons of local Hindutva organization Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) white-washed the mosque located on the hilltop during Dusshera, a media report said. The report said village elders including the sarpanch and other leaders of the ruling party hoisted a saffron flag on the mosque and inscribed the ‘Om’ symbol.

Quoting Majlis Bachao Tehreek party spokesperson Amjedullah Khan, who visited the village after an alert from local villages, the report said, an attempt has been made to grab the mosque in which local leaders of the TRS party are involved. Systematic attempt is being made by the party to hurt religious sentiments of Muslims, he added.
