London: In a move affecting Pakistani citizens worldwide, all Pakistan Missions abroad have announced a temporary closure of their passport sections due to a systematic error and necessary upgrades in the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) system. The closure is set to last from today, April 29, 2026, until tomorrow, April 30, 2026.
According to the High Commission for Pakistan – United Kingdom, this closure impacts all Pakistani passport-issuing offices internationally. The error necessitates an urgent upgrade, leading to this global suspension of services. As a result, all affected appointments will be rebooked for the following week, with applicants receiving notifications of their new appointment dates via email.
The High Commission has expressed its apologies for any inconvenience caused by this temporary disruption and has asked for understanding and cooperation from those affected.
