Islamabad: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to shift its position and collaborate fully with the federal government in combating terrorism.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister, speaking to senior journalists at Parliament House, expressed concerns over the provincial government’s lack of administrative control in 12 districts. These include eight former tribal districts and four settled districts. Fazal Chaudhry highlighted Islamabad’s unique status due to its sensitive state installations and presence of foreign diplomats and embassies, stating firmly that no protest march will be permitted to enter the capital.
He further warned that the federal government holds constitutional authority to declare an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi persist in withholding cooperation in the anti-terrorism campaign.
