Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have commended the Pakistan Navy for its successful counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea, highlighting the military branch’s role in regional maritime security and the fight against drug trafficking.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari congratulated the Pakistan Navy, specifically acknowledging the efforts of officers and personnel aboard the PNS Yarmook, for their vigilant and committed approach in conducting two significant operations against drug trafficking. The President emphasized the importance of continuous surveillance and vigilance in preventing illegal activities at sea.
Prime Minister Sharif, in a separate statement, lauded the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Navy personnel, noting that the operations resulted in the seizure of narcotics valued at approximately ninety-six million US dollars. He described the operations as timely and effective steps against maritime drug trafficking.
Prime Minister Sharif further expressed pride in the Navy’s role in enhancing regional maritime security and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to combating drug trafficking through sustained efforts. The successful operations, he stated, are a testament to Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding its maritime interests and curbing illicit trade through the sea.
