Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to halt any facilitation of terrorist activities. In a televised address, he criticized the provincial government’s approach to law and order, accusing it of being evasive and reluctant to implement measures for peace.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar alleged that the provincial government is not only unaware of the security situation but is also complacent in addressing it. He accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of having a preferential relationship with terrorist groups, labeling the party as an ally to both the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.

Tarar further criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and his administration, asserting that they are complicit in supporting terrorist activities. He urged the provincial leadership to adopt a more responsible stance and contribute to national integrity.

The Minister pointed to illegal activities such as timber and tobacco trade and gold mining as sources of funding for terrorism, implicating certain political figures in these operations. He claimed this financial incentive is a reason behind the provincial government’s inaction against terrorists.

Tarar highlighted the contrasting responses to Afghan drones, noting that while provincial representatives retreated, security forces confronted the threat. He emphasized the collective mobilization of the nation, its security forces, and law enforcement agencies in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
