Jammu: Tara Chand, the working president of the Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has called for the restoration of statehood, as well as job and land rights for local residents.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Chand addressed the press in Jammu, highlighting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) unfulfilled promises regarding the restoration of statehood and constitutional safeguards for jobs and land in the region. He accused the BJP of intentionally delaying these commitments, which he described as a betrayal of the people in the occupied territory.
Chand also expressed concerns about the broader political landscape, noting that various political parties have made pledges during election campaigns but have failed to take action once in power. This, he argued, has left the public facing significant challenges and hardships.
