Chennai: Residents of Tamil Nadu have staged a unique protest against the Modi government’s policy of imposing Hindi across India, using traditional art forms to make their voices heard.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, residents of the Mayiladuthurai area expressed their dissent by creating vibrant Kolams and graffiti at their doorsteps. These intricate designs carried clear messages, with slogans such as “Long Live Tamil” and “Do Not Impose Hindi on India.”
Kolam, a traditional art form in South India, involves drawing geometric patterns on the floor using materials like colored flour, chalk, or white stone powder. This method of protest highlights the cultural significance of local languages and traditions amid concerns about the central government’s language policy.
