Syed Naveed Qamar Chairs Briefing on Parliamentarians for Global Action to Pakistani Legislators

Islamabad: Today, Syed Naveed Qamar presided over a briefing session aimed at informing Pakistani parliamentarians from both houses about the aims, scope, and historical significance of the Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA). The meeting was held in the Parliament House and addressed PGA’s contributions to fostering a rules-based international order.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Syed Naveed Qamar, who is also the newly elected President of the PGA, outlined the organization’s milestones since its inception in 1978. He urged members of the Pakistani parliament to join the PGA and support its objectives, including the advancement of human rights and the rule of law.

Qamar specifically mentioned the importance of using such international platforms to advocate for oppressed populations, citing the situation of Palestinians. Additionally, he announced that Pakistan’s National Assembly will host the 45th Annual Forum of the PGA and the 13th Consultative Assembly of Parliamentarians on the International Criminal Court and the Rule of Law from October 28-29, 2024, in Islamabad.

The attendees, including the Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, and other notable parliamentarians, both in person and virtually, praised Qamar’s presidency as an honor for the country. They also expressed enthusiastic support for the upcoming PGA conference in Pakistan.
