Karachi, In a historic electoral victory, Pakistan Peoples Party’s nominated candidate, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has been re-elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh for a third term, making him the 25th elected Chief Minister of the province. The Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, announced that Ali Shah secured 112 votes out of 148, surpassing his rival, MQM’s nominee Ali Khursheedi, who received 36 votes.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this election marks the first instance in Sindh’s political history where a Chief Minister has been elected by such a substantial margin of 112 votes. Following the announcement, leaders from both the PPP and MQM extended their congratulations to Syed Murad Ali Shah, acknowledging his deserving win based on his commendable performance during his previous terms, particularly amidst challenges such as COVID-19 and the floods.
The Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tessori, is scheduled to administer the oath to the newly elected Chief Minister tomorrow. The spokesman for the Governor revealed that the oath-taking ceremony is set to take place at the Governor House at six in the evening.
This victory not only underscores Syed Murad Ali Shah’s enduring popularity and leadership in Sindh but also sets a precedent for political tenure in the province.
