Lahore: A Swiss-based sustainability organization has extended an invitation to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to attend and address the NST Award Gala and Summit 2026 in Hong Kong, acknowledging her efforts in improving the environment and promoting technology-driven governance.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the invitation was formally extended by Noble Sustainability Trust (NST) Chairman Peter Nobel. The event, scheduled for September 30, is expected to gather world leaders, scientists, and policymakers focused on sustainable development. The NST report highlighted Punjab’s adoption of real-time monitoring, digital platforms, and data-driven systems under Chief Minister Nawaz’s leadership to tackle environmental challenges. These initiatives include technology-based systems for pollution source identification, environmental risk assessment, and improved departmental coordination in combating smog.

The report further detailed the implementation of modern equipment for transparent air-quality management and the use of remote monitoring technology to prevent illegal logging and hunting. Additionally, satellite and other modern technologies are being promoted for wildlife protection, breeding, and conservation.

Peter Nobel remarked that Punjab’s advancements in technology-based governance could serve as a model for other regions. The Noble Sustainability Trust, established in Switzerland in 2007 by members of the Nobel family, is dedicated to environmental improvement, air pollution reduction, and enhancing quality of life.
