Survey Reveals Daily Mobility Patterns Among Pakistanis Vary by Gender

Islamabad: A recent survey by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan reveals that 43% of adult Pakistanis leave their homes more than once a day for activities such as work and shopping, with notable gender differences in daily mobility. The survey, which included a nationally representative sample, shows that men are significantly more likely than women to go out multiple times, with 66% of men doing so compared to only 19% of women. Meanwhile, 32% of women report not leaving the house at all, underscoring a substantial gender disparity.

According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the survey involved a sample of 811 married men and women from urban and rural regions across Pakistan’s four provinces. Conducted between March 18 and March 31, 2026, using telephonic surveys, the study highlights that while 43% of respondents go out more than once a day, 37% leave their homes once daily, and 18% do not go out at all. This data suggests that a majority of Pakistanis are mobile daily, though the frequency of outings varies significantly.

The survey’s findings also reveal broader trends regarding gender and mobility. While it is common for Pakistanis to leave their homes multiple times a day, men are substantially more likely to engage in this behavior. Conversely, a higher proportion of women report not going out for work, shopping, or other activities, reflecting ongoing gender-based differences in daily routines across the country. The research was released by Gilani Research Foundation, with an error margin of approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.
